Basha Ruth Nelson ended the evenings Virtual Open Studio meeting (55 minutes) with a moving presentation focused on her exhibition at the HVMOCA, the Hudson Valley Museum of Contemporary Art, formally known at the HVCCA: the Hudson Valley Contemporary Arts Center. Basha's interactive and participatory work "Thoughts About Freedom" engaged the audience to rip the sheets of paper that hung from the ceiling and write down their responses to the exhibitions title. Indeed Basha was herself moved by the meaningfulness and whimsical nature of the varied responses. One thought expressed by a 17 year old has resonated strongly in the artists mind and sheds light on how artists can open up a world of expression and experience to those that view and engage their work. The evolution of Basha Nelson's work and it's living nature during the show was noted.
